9/7/08 Neighborhood Picnic/Block Party

Neighbors are considering having a  family friendly neighborhood picnic/block party for October 11, 2008 from 10/11 AM to 3:00 PM. Tentatively we are looking at the area next to the small pond On Windsor Oaks, south of Gnarled Oak. This would be a potluck BYO Food and Refreshment. We are seeing if we can bring over a couple of grills to cook food people bring, and some tables to put the food on. More to come as things are worked out.  Email me if you have ideas.

Front Entrance Replanting

There will be a replanting of the front entrance of Windemere Subdivision Saturday, June 14 2008 at  8AM.

For the central island we will need:
- 20 crotons in 3 gallon pots (Available at Lowes for $8.97- see the ad below ).  Does not have to be bought at Lowes but look at the ad to see what kind it is.
http://lowes.shoplocal.com/lowes/default.aspx?action=entryflash&storeid=2540304&listingid=-2091507694&fromemail=Y&print=Y

-40 variagated liriope (like what is up there)

- We already have had a donation of 2 flats of annuals

- 1 bag of peat moss (for the poinsettias)

- 2 bags of potting soil (for the poinsettias)
The poinsettia's will be repotted in the 3 gallon pots we have from the crotons.  The plants will then be fostered out until the holidays for replanting.

- 1 bag of slow acting fertilizer - like milorginate

For the east side of the entrance we will need 14 liriope to fill in the existing liriope.

The west side is a problem  because it does not appear that the sprinkler system is working there and that will need to be fixed before we replant.

I'd also like to see if we can pressure wash off the graffiti (WERD) that is on the fence (far west side next to Citation Subdivision).  This would need the assistance of the home owner on the other side of the fence so we could tap into a water supply.  Does anyone have a pressure washer we can use?

After we plant, we will need to come up with a watering schedule and list of volunteers until the plants are established.

Call or email  David Banghart if you wish to donate plants or supplies.

Decorating for the Holidays

On Saturday, December 8, 2007 a group of neighbors cleaned up and decorated the front entrance. Surplus holiday decorations were donated by several residents. $145.70 in donations were collected from residents as they drove by. These donations allowed the purchase of more decorations including red bows and poinsettias. On Sunday morning the poinsettas were planted. An additional $51.00 was collected. Any monies left over from the decorating will used to add to the landscaping of the entranceway.
